The London Festival of Architecture takes place from 19 June to 4 July 2010 and will be a city-wide celebration of architecture in the capital. As London gears up for the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games LFA2010 will look at ways that planners, architects and local communities play their part in the development of ‘The Welcoming City (LFA, 2010)’. The 2008 Festival was a tremendous succcess with events throughout London that provided interest for all. It attracted 250,000 visitors to some 800 events. If you took part or visited the many events you will agree that it was quite a spectacle. Now LFA in readiness for 2010 wants your ideas for events and ideas. If you visit the official site you can now create a personal profile, as Boidus has done, so that you can keep up to date with events. You can also add your own events to the schedule. So get you thinking caps on and contribute to this fantastic festival now!

The LFA 2010 website states:
The Festival in 2010 will be a city-wide celebration of architecture in the capital. As London gears up for the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games we look at ways that planners, architects and local communities play their part in the development of ‘The Welcoming City’. All Londoners are invited to join the Festival community, to develop projects to take part in debates; to investigate ways that London can be made a better place to live, work and play; to explore the city through guided walks and bike rides and to examine change in the capital in a celebratory way.

A wide range of independent events will surround a number of core activities – some focused on high profile weekend events – others taking place throughout the Festival period.
The core activities of the Festival are centrally curated by the three key LFA2010 organisations, The Architecture Foundation, NLA and RIBA London and are delivered in partnership with a number of institutions including the British Council, London Metropolitan University and Open House.
There will be three key weekends over the Festival period with the shift focusing from the:
- West End
- Highstreet 2012
- Bankside Urban Forest
These activities will sit alongside a packed programme including the
- International Architecture Showcase
- The International Architecture Student Festival
- Festival Cycling
- Open Studies
- Love Your Street
- My City Too!
The Festival will then be brought to life across London by independently organised events, exhibitions, talks, walks and more
